I first met George around 4 years ago, at which point he was a shy and angry young person. He has used the YCBC as a platform for positive growth. Since the beginning of his journey George has been faced with many challenges in life which resulted in him finishing his education at a PRU centre. However, using the skills he has learnt through boxing and some mentoring / guidance from myself and his peers, he has overcome them all with flying colours. Through the YCBC, George is now a qualified boxing tutor and is focused on becoming a full time coach so that he can give back to the next generation of young carers.

How has Champions 4 Change – YCBC changed me?

“Working with Scott has made a massive impact on my life and helped me to stay on the right path and avoid the bad ones. It has made me more focused on achieving great things in life, I feel more able to deal with stressful situations at home and in everyday life after training or speaking with Scott.
Since starting with the YCBC I have become a lot more confident and more able to control my emotions. Scott has always motivated and inspired me to look to the future. This led me to becoming a qualified boxing tutor and hopefully I can have the same profound effect on the younger generation that Scott and the C4C – YCBC programme has had on me.
Scott is no longer just a coach to me I see him more as a brother, because of how much he’s helped me out and develop as a person and for this I’ll be forever grateful.” – George

A word from George’s Mother

“My son George has known Scott for many years now, through boot camp organised by Scott and the young carers. George has always found life difficult, and has struggled dealing with how he was feeling.  From the very first time he attended boot camp, he seemed more calm and relaxed. Over the years he has looked up to Scott and developed so much respect for him. During some hard times he turned to Scott. I really can’t thank him enough for all the time he has spent with George, I honestly don’t know where we would be if it wasn’t for Scott and the training he does. It has definitely had such a positive impact on our lives.” – Lorraine
